ABOUT THE ARTIST

Christine Lashley is known for her colorful and dramatic oils of Paris and New York City. He works have a freshness and aliveness due to the fact that they are done by painting outdoors (plein air). The beauty of creating a moment held in memory by fusing reality and the abstract are key elements of her style. Lashley studied art at the Sorbonne in Paris and later in workshops given by prominent artists. She is recognized for her plein air work in both the landscape and cityscape genre for which she has received numerous awards, including Best of Show at: Plein Air Telluride, Bath County, and En Plein Air Texas. Other awards include the Bold Brush Award, ARC salon, Plein Air Salon Top 5 Annual Finalist, and numerous Oil Painter's of America (OPA) awards. Since 2009, her paintings have been exhibited in galleries and collected throughout the U.S. She currently lives and works in the Washington, D.C. area. She is also a sought after instructor and has taught workshops and classes for 30 years.
